Pokemon Darkrai 8" / Jakks Pacific (5)
8" Deluxe figure -
Street Fighter 2: Ryu Trophy Statue / Avatar Creations & Capcom (6)
For Capcom's Street Fighter tournament at E3 1996 (I think). This was a 1/4 scale figure (huge!) which was finished out in gold. -
My Neighbor Totoro / Personal Work (4)
Probably my first completed sculpture! With it I won Best of Show at the 2nd annual Anime Expo modeling competition (1994 I believe). This was my fist real recognition for my work, and an initial doorway into this career. Never molded, but I still have the original. -
YuGiOh! Dark Magician (6)
My first YuGiOh sculpt for Mattel (6" figure). For Mattel, Inc (in-house). -
YuGiOh! Millennium Puzzle / Personal Work (2)
Before I even worked for Mattel, I was inspired by the YuGiOh manga to create a replica of his Millennium Puzzle necklace. Ultimately, I think it would be tough to wear this thing, as it's very heavy and pointy! -
Robot Carnival: Deprive / Streamline Modelworks (4)
Vignette from Ohmori's Deprive segment of Robot Carnival. This was my very first commissioned work, and I think it still looks not too bad. But I would definitely change it if I had to do it again. The hardest part was getting all the robot's pistons to line up in the right places at the end. The bad guy's hair is really crazy. -
Resident Evil: Tyrant / Avatar Creations & Capcom (3)
This was to be a coldcast statue for Avatar, based of course on the boss from Capcom's original Biohazard / Resident Evil game. This figure was painted by Robert S Martin Jr. -
YuGiOh! Thouand Dragon / Mattel Inc. (5)
Deluxe action figure. -
YuGiOh! Dark Luster Soldier / Mattel Inc. (5)
6" action figure. -
YuGiOh! Shield Giant Gardna / Mattel Inc. (5)
There is also a shield for this character (not shown). The hair was constructed in 3 layers in order to get all the undercuts. -
YuGiOh! Ox Soldier / Mattel Inc. (5)
This is the basic version of the Rabid Horseman, with human legs. -
YuGiOh! Pendulum Machine / Mattel Inc (3)
Modeled digitally in Maya (the pendulum, body and shoulder pads), then output. -
YuGiOh! Rabid Horseman / Mattel Inc (6)
Deluxe action figure. -
YuGiOh! Marik (4)
A simple pose, but I tried to give him some nice poise. 6" figure. For Mattel, Inc (in-house). -
YuGiOh! Dark Magician Girl (6)
A magical cutie! 6" figure. For Mattel, Inc (in-house). -
YuGiOh! Stone Giant (5)
Big rock man! Sort of proportioned like a giant anime robot mecha. 6" action figure. For Mattel, Inc (in-house). -
YuGiOh! Prelim Sculpture / Private Client (4)
This was long before the anime, and is based on the slightly softer look of the manga. I also had very little reference to do this... OK enough of my excuses. The hair is a bit off, among other things, but it was also a big rush job, and I think it turned out OK. This may be the first Yuugi ever sculpted. -
Vampire Princess Miyu: Larva's Mask / Personal Work (3)
I always liked the Larva character from VP Miyu, a rather mysterious and melancholy fellow. I did this next after Totoro as I recall. Based on his cel-animated look with the sharp nose. I would like to try him again someday with a more organic look, more like the detailed illustrations. This mask is wearable, although you can't see through it. The eye is glass, and can be back-lit.
